It is hoped that later on this year we will be having an on line auction to raise money for the fund. We will be looking to have at least 100 lots available to bid on. If you would like to pledge an auction item please contact me via the site or by email or by phone. Watch this space for updates on the auction lots as they come in.

After the information about the Gamekeepers Memorial Fund being published in the Shooting Times, The Modern Gamekeeper and The Scottish Gamekeepers Associations Keeping the balance magazine, I have been contacted with offers of help by one or two people. I hope that more of you will contact me to join our Circle of Friends to offer your help and support in any way that you can. A new page on our web site will be made to name these people when we have a few more to add to our Circle of Friends.

Many thanks to the Clay Shooters who took part in the memorial shoot last week end from the Bretby Estate in Derbyshire who raised £104. for us. Thanks also to the parents of one of our trustees who donated £100. and also to The Boars Head at Sudbury in Derbyshire for their donation of £100.

Any one else who would like to donate items for the auction or gifts of money please contact us, we need a lot more help and support.

Nothing has been fixed yet but our auction may be hosted by BASC to run with their next one in March or April of next year. This would be a tremendous help to us offering a greater audience to bid on our lots. We have only 47 lots at the moment but with this extra time if it goes ahead will enable us to try and get more lots for the memorial fund when it goes ahead. Many thanks to all our supporters for the items we have already received, who I will be contacting  once we know that the auction dates etc have been finalised.

A couple or more new lots have been donated, they still keep coming in slowly. The Land Rover Experience is a particularly good one as is the Dog Transit Box, keep checking the web site there may be a few more surprises in store for you to bid on.

A donation from the Grandaughter of Harry Poole a local keeper, has been received from Helen Frost.

Two new items have been donated in the last couple of days. The Countryman of Derby has donated a good quality Roe Sack worth £90. and JMS Arms have kindly donated one of their Heck-Pack Game Transporters for carrying that carcass to your larder keeping your 4x4 nice and clean and free of any unwanted guests it may be carrying. The retail price of this
£199.

Hello to all our friends and supporters. I have just received some bad news from BASC they unfortunatley can not host our auction for us due to technical problems over licencing with their web site owners. So we are looking yet again on how we can go forward with this auction.

BASC are going to try and do something for us but as yet I do not know what they have in mind. If there is anyone out there with some good ideas on how we can progress please contact us. This was something that we hoped the NGO would take an interest in but they declined the offer of being involved which is a great shame but it also shows where there true feelings lie with helping out a worthy cause that would have given them plenty of publicity amongst the shooting media and their members, a very dissapointing organisation.

Due to the lack of support it is with sorrow that the Memorial Fund will not be holding an auction or trying to raise more funds for a War Memorial.

The trustees have decided that all monies raised so far and the auction lots are to be donated to the Gamekeepers Wellfare Fund. This has been a hard decission to make but time has almost run out and there is no possiblity of raising the amount of money we required for the Bronze Statue. The Gamekeepers Wellfare Fund is a charity that helps to raise money for Keepers who may need help with health/motobility issues or other problems, so the money we have raised will be going to a good cause. We will put on the web site how much money was raised for the Gamekeepers Wellfare Fund when we know the amount.

We would like to thank everyone for their help raising funds, for the kind donations of all our auction lots and the support we have recieved from our well wishers and friends and we appoligise that we were not able to make our dream come true.

Regards,

Barry Cooper.  ( Trustee )
